Business and Marketing Pathway Course Descriptions

 Accounting IAccounting

Open to: 10,11,12 grade -- Full Year = 1.0

Accounting I students will learn about the financial management of a sole proprietorship and a merchandising corporation by studying revenue, expenses, capital, assets, and liabilities.  This course will also introduce computerized software used in the business world.
 

  

 Business and Marketing, I

Open to: 10,11,12 -- Full Year = 1.0

This is the core course for students in the business and marketing pathway.  Students will learn about careers in the business and marketing pathway with a major emphasis on "employability" skills, economics, marketing and business concepts, creative sales and leadership development.  Students will have the opportunity to take part in DECA leadership activities and work in one of the school-wide enterprises.

 Accounting II

Open to 11,12 grade -- Full Year = 1.0

Accounting II students will apply basic accounting principles to a variety of bookkeeping and accounting systems.  Students gain experience with partnership and corporate accounting, managerial accounting, and computerized accounting software.

 

 

 Business and Marketing IIbusiness

Open to: 11,12 -- Full Year = 1.0

This class focuses on marketing and customer service skills. Students will participate in an in-depth study of the five P's of the marketing mix (Product, Place, Promotion, Price, and People) as they apply to the operation, merchandising, and management of a marketing-related business.  Students will have the opportunity to take part in DECA leadership activities and work in one of the school-wide enterprises

 Financial Literacyfin lit

Open to:  10,11,12 – Full Year = 1.0

 This class teaches the students the knowledge necessary to enhance their own financial security.  Students will also better understand their own wants, needs, and values and how these affect personal financial decisions.  Topics covered include banking, investments, credit, paying for college, taxes, bankruptcy, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate.  Students will learn about purchasing insurance for home, automobile, health, disability, and life.  Financial management is also examined in this course.

 

 Business and Marketing III

Open to: 12 -- Full Year = 1.0

This class teaches the management concepts and communication skills necessary to become an effective business leader.  Students have the opportunity to apply business, marketing, and leadership concepts by managing student-run enterprises.  Students have the

 

 Programs of Study and Pathway Honors at Rogers High School

Below is a quick guide to the sequence of courses required to complete a Program of Study and/or earn Pathway Honors.  Students who complete the following Programs of Study  with will receive a B (3.0) or better and starting with the fall of 2019 a C (2.0 or Better in each of the required courses are eligible to receive a Certificate and Pathway Honor Honors at graduation and will receive Pathway Cords to wear at graduation. For Business and Marketing, the cord is Royal Blue.

Students will be awarded their Honor Certificate and their Pathway Honor Cords based on grades from their transcript.  No application is needed for these awards.
