Detailed Clearance Process:

In order to participate in athletics at Rogers High School, students are required to complete the athletic clearance process. A student may complete this process by submitting all completed forms to the building athletic coordinator prior to the start of the sport season, either by e-mail or in-person.

  1. In order to participate at a PSD high school, the following requirements must be met:

Complete the online permission forms (found at https://puyallupschools.rankonesport.com) and then notify the building athletic coordinator that they are completed either by e-mail or in-person.

Submit a current physical examination. The physical must be valid for the entire sport season for the student to be cleared to participate. Send in any new paperwork as an e-mail attachment or bring to school.

If a student has a life-threatening health condition or needs access to emergency medications, then an Emergency Action Plan or Current Medication Form, signed by a physician, must also be submitted.

Pay the Athletic Fee ($75 per season) and purchase a high school ASB Card ($40). These fees can be paid in person with the school bookkeeper prior to athletic clearance, or by using the EZ School Pay system at www.ezschoolpay.com (a convenience fee is charged). In either payment situation, bring your receipts with you to the Athletic Director during clearance. (Students in cut sports—Volleyball, Soccer, Boys Golf, Basketball, Baseball, Fastpitch, and Girls Tennis—are not required to pay the fees until after team selection, but prior to the first contest.)

    2.  Scholastic Grade Review:

The Puyallup School District requires that each student pass a minimum of five (5) classes and earn at least a 2.0 Grade Point Average on the previous semester’s report card in order to gain initial athletic eligibility. Students must then maintain these standards throughout the designated sport season.
  2. 3.  Residency:

Each athlete is required to reside within the boundary areas of the high school in which they plan to participate. Transfer/Waiver rules will apply in certain situations.

Athletes must clear through the building athletic coordinator in order to begin practice. If an athlete practices without going through the clearance process, he or she will be subject to athletic probation and/or suspension.

Tryouts will start on Aug. 23rd (4:00) at Lake Spanaway GC in Spanaway.

Aug. 23rd at 4:00PM

Aug. 24th at 4:00PM

Aug. 25th at 4:00PM (Final day of tryouts)

Aug. 26th at 4:00PM (Additional cuts if needed)

Here are some factors that are used to determine cuts:

Character -                          Is the player the kind of person we want to represent us

high school and our golf program?  Have they given us

reason to question their morality or integrity?

Academics -                        Is the golfer as committed to the classroom as they are

                                                on the golf course?

Talent -                                Does the golfer possess special ability and athleticism?

Year in School -                 what role will the golfer play in the future?  Seniors

generally, will need to complete at the varsity level

Juniors need to fit in the program needs or be leaders on

junior varsity level.  Underclassmen have certain

flexibility to be either varsity or junior varsity.

With those factors and taking the scoring averages of the golfer’s tryout rounds, this will then determine the members of the golf program.

General Information:

You need to have your own equipment (clubs, shoes, golf balls)

You will need to have your own transportation to and from the golf course every day.

It is recommended, that you play and practice as much as possible during the summer to prepare for the tryouts and season.

You must be academically eligible. Minimum GPA of 2.0 and no F's for the golf team

Weekly Practice Schedule:

Monday – Thursday and some Fridays (4:00 to approximately 6:30) at Lake Spanaway GC.

Lake Spanaway Junior Rates:

Lake Spanaway Golf Course has let it be known that their junior rates are $12.75 - Monday through Friday.  This is a fantastic rate, and it is important that the players get out and play as much as possible to be ready for tryouts and the season.

If you register for Youth on Course (https://youthoncourse.org/), the players will be able to play for $5
